The Nintendo Wii has been all the rage recently and has caused quite the stir in the video game industry. With so many new people having the Nintendo Wii in their homes, we are frequently receiving emails from people asking how they can copy Wii games.
Since we keep getting this question, we decided to put together a quick guide on how to copy Wii games right on your own computer.
Almost everyone has burned a music CD before. In fact, the burning software to make copies of music cds is included in almost all computers now. Unfortunately, this software will not work if you try to use it to copy Wii games.
Video game discs are equipped with a form of “copyright protection” that block these programs from understanding the discs or being able to copy them. When you insert a disc into your computer, the computer can’t “read” the disc or understand it.
Fortunately, there are companies that have designed specialized software that will allow you to copy Wii games. This software uses technology that “knocks-out” the copyright protection used on the game discs and allows your computer to understand the disc.
How do you use it?
There’s nothing to it really. First, your computer will make am “image” of the game disc when you put it in your disc drive. You then insert a blank DVD-R or CD-R disc and the software will burn this image onto the disc. You now have a perfect copy of the game.
This type of software not only lets you copy Wii games, but you can also make copies of Xbox 360, PS3 and literally any other game disc that you have. It’s nice to have just one program that will work for all the games systems you have.
Being able to copy Wii games is a great way to make backup copies of any game you want. This way you are protected if you ever damage or lose a game of yours.
